'THREE DAY LENT'- Lesson in obedience-2021 ?
On 25th - 27th January (3 - Days)
[St Matthew 23: 25-28]
Jesus condemned the Pharisees and religious leaders for outwardly appearing saintly and holy but inwardly remaining full of corruption and greed. When we are clean on the inside, our cleanliness on the outside won't be a sham.
v.24 These Pharisees strained their water so they wouldn't accidentally swallow a grant - an unclean insect according to the law. Meticulous about the details of ceremonial cleanliness, they nevertheless had lost their perspective on inner purity - in essence, they would then swallow a camel and not even notice.
Ceremonially clean on the outside, they had corrupt hearts.
Personally, I used to visit my mum in India, during these 'THREE DAY LENT' in her lonely and isolated days left on this earth, has certainly given me the solace that I did what i can in her days of distress in the twilight years of her life !
